Objectives:
- To develop community awareness programs and promote community involvement among the different areas of the Engineering Education academic community.
- To establish and maintain advocacy and networking efforts concerning issues confronting the underprivileged segments in the community.
- To give training to improve skills that can be compared to the existing industry standards.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE
ACTIVITIES/ INVOLVEMENT:
- Plumbing Training Skills Seminar
Two batches of training on PLUMBING have been
already conducted. The recipients
were the out of school youths of Brgy. Magugpo East Tipaz of Tagum City and the
Job Order workers of Tagum City Water District since most of them have not
undergone a formal training in plumbing. This activity is a joint project of UM
Tagum Engineering Department and of Tagum City Water District (TCWD), Technical
Education Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Davao del Norte Provincial Office,
and of the City Government of Tagum. This project was first launched last July 2, 2005
with 30 participants and the 2nd batch was conducted last February 27, 2008 with 32 participants. Future plans on this project
include plumbing with masonry and tile works.
- Basic Computer Literacy Training For The Students With Exceptionable Of Tagum City National High School
This endeavor aims at extending the reach
of differently-abled students of Tagum City National High School by honing
their PC operations’ skills, providing them equal opportunity to contend in
this highly-competitive society. Launched last August 8, 2009 this training had
ten Hearing Impaired, one physically challenged and one mentally challenged as
participants of said activity. This project is co-sponsored by the DepEd
Division of Tagum City and the Sangguniang Kabataan Federation of Tagum City.
